I am looking over my shoulder again here at the month of December. It was a good month, with the exception of Christmas day, and that day's weather, spoiled my plans to visit the family in Gibbon.
C'est la vie.
To put the topping on 2012, we got out of school on Dec. 20 and will be
out until January 7, 2013. I have no plans for doing anything during
this time, except hang out with my horses, go see the Hobbit on
Christmas Eve, pay all the tax deductible bills that I can by 31
December.During this time I planned to just stay home, relax, and enjoy
my horses, the Season and the backyard wildlife.
Pictures of the season looked like this...

and for the rest of the New Year weekend, I let the colts out to play with me.

Plans for
Christmas day was to go to Lois and Lynn's for the afternoon and
evening. All looked well until about noon, then it started snowing. No
snow was sticking but the snowfall started getting heavier and heavier,
to the point it did start sticking, and my plans were dashed. Thinking
this situation was not looking good, I called Lynn and told him that I
was going to have to opt out of our get together since I felt uneasy
about driving back home in the dark, the fog, and snowfall. C'est la
vie.

12-16 Winter is heading this way, and my horses are looking like mud puppies. |

December 9 - our first heavy snowfall. Maybe ½" accumulation for the day. |
The biggest excitement in December was...
an Internet connection via Hughesnet satellite service.
Since I moved into my new home on April 14-16, I have been trying to get connected to the WWW. I tried with five ISP's and none could reach me including Hughesnet. Either I was too far off their lines or the satellites were full and they were not taking new subscribers. So I enjoyed the balance of spring, summer, and fall offline spending lots of time with me horses, working around the house, with the hope that bythe time the snow blew across the territory, I might be connected. The last week in November I received a postcard in my US Mailbox announcing that Hughesnet had a new, improved, and faster satellite in the sky and that they could provide my area with WWW service. So on 3 December I became reconnected, with everyone on the other side of my computer monitor.
Now with December said and done... no one I know was wiped out on 12-21. We missed another bullet... "The End of the World is coming" via the Mayan calendar.

12-21-12 came and went... here we are |
So this is how my December shaped up as we head into the Winter 2012-2013. Burrrrr, my wild rags, double Mac wool, and goose down coats sure feel good now. Looking forward to spring.
